If you don’t have much cash, but you have great taste, you may be looking for some serious home decorating bargains. Whether you are a college student looking to furnish your first apartment or a young professional or newly married couple purchasing your first condo or home, you really can furnish your home on a shoestring budget. Budget decorating doesn’t necessarily require expensive designers and trips to the high end furniture and decorating stores. Here are a couple of ideas to start:

§ Yard sales are a great place to start. People sell almost anything and it is a great thing to do on Saturday mornings. Keep an eye out for things like refrigerators, couches, dining tables and more.

§ The local dump is another place to find interesting items. People who are too busy to host a yard sale, may just throw things away, and it is incredible what you will find. You may need a little elbow grease to fix or clean things up, but you’ll probably find something worthwhile on your travels.

§ Fleamarkets provide a place for you to see a lot of mostly second hand goods, all in one place. Start early and plan to stay awhile. There are a lot of treasures to be found.

§ If you are tired of driving around and filling your gas tank, don’t forget to check out the online classified websites. Craigslist™ and ebay™ have been around awhile and are widely used. Be sure to check out the newest website UZAP.com. They offer a number of cool new features for both buyers and sellers.

Whatever your budget or timeframe, forget about the high end decorating stores. You are sure to find what you need for a lot less with a little research and leg work.
